No checks beside Win Updates after Win 8.1 Repair Install

"get windows 10" box keeps popping up
My pc goes into sleep mode whenever I close my laptop. Every time I open it, the "get windows 10" box appears in the middle of my screen and quite frankly, it's really starting to annoy the hell out of me lol. What do I have to do to make this box not appear?

Video files won't play is there a way to fix?
Hey guys,
I've got a bunch of video files from a recovery I had to do off a 4 terabyte drive.. yeah that was annoyingly long..
Some of them don't play saying "cannot render" - that's fine so I delete them..
I'm using* VLC and Media Player Classic Home to try to view the videos*.. sometimes VLC is better. and sometimes MPCH can play them... so I have to now try both programs if one...

File explorer and Recycle Bin broken after last update
I have Win 8.1 on a Toshiba Satellite C75 and after the upgrade yesterday File Explorer and the Recycle Bin are both broken.
If I empty the Recycle Bin the desktop icon doesn't refresh and if I create a new directory, delete or rename files in any File Explorer window the changes are not refreshed. I have to go up one level and back down again to see the changes.

Solved Windows Modules Installer Worker - high CPU for hours
I'm running a fresh install of 8.1 x64, on a C-60 processor and 4GB RAM. The system was fully updated, then today I did it again with about 175MB of updates.

What is COM Surrogate and why is it continuously using CPU
I've noticed that the CPU on my Windows 8.1 desktop seems to have been continuously used up by 12%-15% by something named "COM Surrogate" (see screenshot attached.)

ok so this group policy client keeps failing
i used a restore point and it was fixed , but a few days later it happened again. I use restore point then it happens a few days later again and so on and so on.

event id for system shut down in 8.1
Does anybody know event id to look for to determine when the system was shut down? I know it's 6006 in Windows 7 that specifies when event log stoped, I don't know if it's the same for Windows 8.1, since I can't see any ID 6006 in my Event viewer.
