Can't access Mail or Store

Hi there, I'm a new user to Windows 8 and am having some problems. First, everytime I try to open the store it tells me I'm not connected to the internet, but I am. I've tried running the troubleshooter, but it does nothing. Additionally, I tried logging into Mail, but all I see is a three-tone white screen that has zero information on it. And yes I had an Outlook account before Windows 8....
