Today, I was trying to figure out how to get the Windows 8 To Go to access the Windows Store, also when I discovered a very nice overview article by Microsoft on how to deploy it, use it, and particular details about it. Windows To Go: Feature Overview (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831833.aspx) Said article. The biggest issue I see coming is Windows Store access. It's by...

Complaints about Windows 8 appear to be mostly lack of knowledge

Yes, I like to try something new/better/different. I installed the CP/M mod in my TRS 80 Model III to see what it was all about. Turns out it added lots of capabilities. It wasn't very nice to have to reinitialize the floppy drives every time you changed a disk. Similarly there are some things in Window 8 that won't be as convenient as they were in Windows 7 or even XP. Reading many of the...

Windows 8: My complaints

I have it installed as my primary OS and have been exploring it for about a week now. Although I do like several features, I am going to be re-installing 7 because I feel limited in 8. The most frustrating aspect of 8 is the lack of simple menu choices. For instance, I can view photos in the photo app but when I want to export them, open them with another program, or really anything other than...

This is quite annoying me for a long time, things like confirmation dialog box, file copy Window do not get in front most of the times, either its focus is lost or it pops up behind the current Window. The only way to see those boxes is to click them separately in task bar. I think many of us should hav this problem, hope I put up the problem with right words;)

 I need to make a short cut I can place on my desktop to switch to Metro view. Is there any way to do this? I have looked hard but can find no info on how to do this. I do not want to use the keyboard short cut it must be a short cut OR a batch file. Thanks in anticipation. ;)

So, how is Windows 8 at the moment compared to Windows 7?

I'm not talking about the Metro thing, I'm talking about how is it in terms of stability, security, speed, usability, etc... Also, do the side menus get in the way, especially when using desktop programs? It's that time again for me to reformat, so I might as well take the opportunity and install my PC with Windows 8, since I've liked it on other times I've used it before. Also, I'd...

suitable for the enterprise

As a supporter of Windows 8: What does the "Microsoft Store" have to do with it? How is Windows 8 not suitable for the enterprise if the "Microsoft Store" is not part of the equation? The "Microsoft Store" can be blocked and denied access to using the local group policy editor. Attachment 8451 (http://www.eightforums.com/attachments/f1/f2/8451-suitable-enterprise-store.jpg) Enterprise Workstation Multi...

More (smaller?) Tiles for the Start Screen

Considering the high resolutions seen on moderate sized tablets I can understand why the limited number of tile rows (7 max) would make sense. However, the Start screen would be easier to configure for my many productivity programs on a 24-in 1920x1600 monitor if there could more rows of tiles. 8 would fit nicely, perhaps even 9. Even better would be to be able to use the more icon-like...

the Cloud really is Cloud Cuckoo land

Hi all Here's a little warning of what could happen if you start becoming too reliant on using "The Cloud". Twitter was forced to turn over a huge amount of its data to the FBI -- didn't matter if you were resident of a country not subject to the USA's internal policy or legislation. Maybe 99% of it was just ignored -- but the fact that 3rd parties can access supposedly private data at the...
