So, I've been having this problem ever since I downgraded back to Windows 8 from Windows 10 where there are boxes in places where there should be icons, as seen in the photos. Thank you for support.

Can't change drive letter for DVD writer
Hi all! In Windows Explorer, the DVD RW drive appears as "E".
I want it to be "Z". Normally this is easily changed in "Disk Management".
But when I open Computer Management > Disk Management, I do not see the DVD RW drive.
Just to clarify this is a physical disk (no virtual drive).
I know I have seen it previousl in Disk Management, and changed the letter there, so I am not sure what...

Just wondering if any of you have ever used Flubit to get the parts for your builds - i worked out i could save over £100 on the build by using flubit but i know they use different suppliers to get the product to you so it could be a retailer that has a bad RMA procedure

Black screen after auto repair on boot
Turned on my laptop this morning and it went to a blue screen, saying I had a problem. It then restarted and said "preparing automatic repair", after that it's just a black screen. Haven't found a fix to this browsing the web. Some pages said go to safe mood or bios, but upon searching how to do that, all the guides I found showed how to do it when windows was working fine.

"Pressing the Power button" defaulting to sleep
Hey guys.
I'm new, So i'm not sure if this would go under general, or if it's even a windows 8 problem in the first place.

Program crashes
When I try to load my quicken data file into my quicken deluxe 2014 (installed in Windows 8.1) it crashes repeatedly and I get an error message that says

File Explorer New Folder and also double-clicking problems
Hey all, a few days ago my Windows 8.1 File Explorer started acting weird. I cant create a new folder, nor does double-clicking work to enter a directory. There arent any errors, it just doesnt work. I AM able to create folders via the command line via mkdir though. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Cannot burn Ubuntu ISO into USB using Windows 8.1
I have Windows 8.1 and want to burn ubuntu-14.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso into USB. Every time I format USB to FAT or FAT32, I get an error with all 3 of these software:
