Customizing Shortcuts By Modifying The Registry
Hello All,
I read in another forum that you can stop Windows from adding "- Shortcut" to shortcuts by modifying the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\link
To do so, you have to change the binary data from 1e 00 00 00 to 00 00 00 00.
I did this and it works great. I want to go a bit further, however.

I have just run a Malwarebytes (free version) scan, and get one potential problem as per the image below.
It refers to a tool I downloaded & used to display the Windows key for my Win 8.1 installation

Fast Boot causes Black screen after loading Desktop
Hi there,
For a few days I have been having some problems with my computer. Whenever I shutdown properly and then start again, the Desktop loads fine and after a few seconds of coming to the desktop. I see a black screen in front of me, I try to press num lock on and off to see if the system froze, it indeed froze. I disabled fastboot, after that even if I start after shutdown, it boots fine.

Problems with Micro SD memory chip.
I inserted a 64mb memory chip which shows as: Secure Digital Storage Device (D:) on Desktop. I removed all my 'Pictures' from 'This PC', and installed than in the SDSD. Now of course I find that when I select the 'Photos' app on the Start Screen the menu appears, but no pictures. How do I resolve this?

After losing my Metro tiles to an error, and not being able to restore or refresh my PC, I decided to purge and re-install. I have several HDD's in my computer, and would like to learn how to map documents, music, etc. to my D:\ drive *by default*, to save room on C:\ for Windows and programs.

Forcing a Micro SD card to act as a permanent storage.
This advice was given in a previous thread:
Create a shortcut on your desktop that points to the SD card. Give it an obvious name (like "SD" in my case) and then move it to the root of C: (as in C:\SD) or somewhere else convenient. Jumplist swipe up behavior problem
So I just put together my new computer with windows 8.1 and I noticed that when i do the swipe up gesture to access the jump list from the taskbar, my computer will automatically launch whatever my mouse is over when i let go the mouse button.
